Profile

What is a profile?

A profile is a definition of a structure and expression format that consists of the following two.

  • Metamodel ・ ・ ・ Items to be designed and their structural definitions
  • View definition ・ ・ ・ Definition of representation format of model created based on metamodel

A profile is equivalent to a document template or figure notation in which a chapter structure is defined in a conventional design document. Profiles can be defined for each standard design method, or can be uniquely defined based on the characteristics of the target product and the company's design know-how.

Profile

Relationship between project and profile

The Next Design project is modeled based on the profile. By modeling based on the profile, it is possible to design according to the items to be designed and their structure, and the notation can be unified, so it is possible to prevent omission of design items, structural errors, and notation deviations.

Furthermore, by standardizing the profile for each design target, team, and organization, and using the profile in common for multiple projects, it leads to stable design quality and essential quality improvement.

Projects and Profiles

Profile use case

The general operation procedure of the profile is as follows.

  1. Standardization promoter creates a project with a defined profile
  2. The standardization promoter exports the defined profile from the project and publishes it.
  3. Designer creates a new project with a published profile
  4. The designer models the design target according to the profile.

If the standardization promoter updates the profile, the profile update can be reflected in the project by expanding the updated profile and re-importing the updated profile by the designer.
